AEO India T1 Status 2026: New Fast-Track Self-Assessment Portal
CBIC launches a new self-assessment module for AEO T1 status. See how SME exporters can claim faster customs clearance and duty deferment benefits.

## Key points
To further the 'Ease of Doing Business' initiative, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has released **Circular No. 19/2026-Customs** on 2026-08-08. This circular introduces a simplified, AI-driven self-assessment portal for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) seeking Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) T1 status. The update reduces the physical verification requirement for compliant SMEs, allowing for auto-approval of status based on historical data.
## What this means for exporters
Entities applying through this new portal can expect their AEO T1 certificates within 15 working days, down from the previous 30-day window. Benefits include a high level of facilitation in customs clearances, direct port delivery (DPD) options, and 24/7 clearance facilities. Furthermore, the circular clarifies that the annual renewal process for existing T1 holders is now fully automated, provided no major compliance breaches were recorded in the previous 24 months.
Who should act now: SME exporters and manufacturers looking to reduce their transaction costs and turnaround time at major Indian ports like Nhavasheva and Mundra.
