## Key points
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has released Circular No. 24/2026-Customs on 2026-08-08, specifically targeting the Agriculture and MSME sectors. The new circular introduces a 'Fast-Track AEO T1' channel that reduces the physical verification requirement for exporters who have a clean compliance record for at least two financial years. This initiative is designed to lower logistics costs and improve the ease of doing business at major ports like Nhavasheva.
## What this means for exporters
Under this new directive, eligible Agri-MSMEs will receive Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) T1 status within 15 working days of a complete application. Benefits include a high level of facilitation in customs clearance, 24/7 clearance at selected ports, and preferential processing of IGST refunds. This reduces the need for bank guarantees in customs procedures, significantly improving cash flow for smaller export houses.
## Who should act now
Small-scale agricultural exporters and MSME units that have not yet applied for AEO status should seize this opportunity to expedite their certification.
