The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued a landmark directive to promote gender inclusivity in international trade. As per CBIC Circular No. 18/2026-Customs dated 2026-08-09, the department has launched a 'Priority Processing Cell' for Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) T1 applications filed by women-owned MSME enterprises.
The new guidelines reduce the verification timeline from 30 days to 7 business days, provided the entity has been operational for at least two years. This is a strategic move to boost the participation of women entrepreneurs in the global supply chain, offering them the same benefits as larger T2/T3 status holders, including deferred payment of duty.

Eligible units will now receive immediate 'Green Channel' clearances at major ports like Nhavasheva and Mundra. Furthermore, the requirement for a bank guarantee for various customs procedures is reduced to 25% of the standard rate.
