CBIC Circular 2026: Fast-Track AEO T1 Status for Rare Earth Magnets
CBIC grants fast-track AEO T1 status to Rare Earth Magnet manufacturers. Claim faster customs clearance and deferred duty benefits today. Apply for eligibility.

## Key points
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has released Circular No. 22/2026-Customs on August 14, 2026. This circular extends the 'Authorized Economic Operator' (AEO) T1 fast-track certification to manufacturers and exporters of Rare Earth Magnets and permanent magnet assemblies. By simplifying the compliance documentation required for SME units, the CBIC aims to integrate Indian manufacturers more deeply into the global EV and electronics supply chains.
## What this means for exporters
Achieving AEO T1 status under this new circular provides immediate benefits at Indian ports, including Nhavasheva and Mundra. Key advantages include a significant reduction in the examination of export/import cargo, faster IGST refunds, and the facility for deferred payment of customs duties. For SMEs, this means better liquidity and lower logistics costs. The circular specifically waives certain physical verification requirements for units that have been operational for at least two years with a clean compliance record.
**Who should act now:** Exporters of neodymium magnets, samarium-cobalt magnets, and high-tech alloy manufacturers should initiate their AEO T1 application to leverage priority processing.
