CBIC Circular 2026: New AEO India Digital KYC for Faster Approvals
CBIC launches Digital KYC for AEO T1 and T2 status. Apply now to reduce customs clearance delays and improve your export-import documentation flow.

## Key points
In a move to enhance the ease of doing business, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued Circular No. 19/2026-Customs on 2026-08-08. The circular introduces a mandatory Digital KYC (Know Your Customer) framework for the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program. This new system replaces physical verification of foundational documents with a blockchain-secured digital vault, ensuring that AEO T1 and T2 applications are processed within 15 working days.
## What this means for exporters
For Indian exporters, this means a significantly faster path to achieving AEO India status. The digital KYC integration allows for real-time validation of entity credentials against GSTN and MCA databases. Once the digital KYC is completed, the 'Trust-Based' clearance benefits, including lower bank guarantee requirements and priority at Nhavasheva and other major ports, will be activated immediately upon certificate issuance.
Who should act now: Manufacturing exporters and logistics providers planning to apply for AEO status or those due for their three-year certificate renewal.
