CBIC Circular 2026: New AEO India T1 Status for Drone Manufacturers
CBIC grants fast-track AEO T1 status for drone exporters. Reduce port dwell time and enjoy lower bank guarantees. Apply for your certification now.

## Key points
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has released Circular No. 92/2026-Customs on 2026-08-10. The circular introduces a specialized window for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) or drone manufacturers to obtain Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) T1 status. This initiative aims to streamline the export of indigenously developed drone technology by offering priority clearance at air cargo complexes and sea ports like Nhavasheva.
## What this means for exporters
Under this new circular, eligible drone exporters will benefit from a 50% reduction in bank guarantees required for various customs bond formalities. Furthermore, AEO T1 status holders in this sector will face minimal physical inspection of export consignments, enhancing their competitiveness in international tenders where timely delivery is critical.
## Who should act now
Startups and MSMEs currently manufacturing drones for agricultural or industrial use should review the eligibility criteria listed in Circular No. 92/2026. Applicants must maintain a clean compliance record for the past two financial years to qualify for the fast-track approval process.
