DGFT Notification 2026: Advance Authorization for Bio-Plastics Units
Apply for the new Advance Authorization norms for bio-plastic exporters. Check eligibility for duty-free raw material imports under DGFT Notification 2026.

## Key points
To promote sustainable manufacturing, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has relaxed the input-output norms for the bio-plastics industry. As per DGFT Notification No. 29/2026 issued on 2026-08-11, manufacturers of biodegradable packaging and bio-polymers are now eligible for fast-track Advance Authorization with a self-declaration of wastage norms, provided they utilize at least 70% bio-based content.
## What this means for exporters
This policy change allows MSMEs in the green chemistry sector to import essential chemicals and catalysts duty-free without waiting for the SION (Standard Input Output Norms) committee's lengthy approval process. By reducing the cost of raw materials, the government aims to make Indian bio-plastic products more competitive in European and North American markets where sustainability standards are high.
## Who should act now
Export units focusing on eco-friendly packaging and biodegradable consumer goods should update their IEC profile and apply through the DGFT portal immediately. The new norms are applicable for licenses issued on or after the date of this notification.
