DGFT Notification 2026: Fast-Track Advance Authorization for Medical Devices
DGFT simplifies Advance Authorization for Medical Device exporters under the new 2026 framework. Get duty-free imports and faster norms fixation today.

## Key points
Effective August 09, 2026, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has introduced a new fast-track mechanism for fixing input-output norms for the Medical Device sector. As per DGFT Notification No. 44/2026-27, eligible manufacturing exporters in the medical technology space can now obtain Advance Authorizations without waiting for the Norms Committee's prior approval, provided they adhere to the pre-defined technical specifications listed in the updated Appendix 4J.
## What this means for exporters
This policy shift significantly reduces the turnaround time (TAT) for raw material procurement, allowing Indian manufacturers to compete more effectively in global markets. By eliminating the lengthy wait for ad-hoc norms fixation, companies can claim immediate duty exemptions on imported components and packaging materials used in the production of surgical instruments, diagnostic kits, and imaging equipment.
Exporters should ensure that their SION (Standard Input Output Norms) applications are submitted through the updated DGFT portal module to leverage the self-declaration route. Our team at We Design For You can help you verify if your specific medical components qualify for this expedited clearance.
**Who should act now:** Manufacturers of Class A and B medical devices looking to scale exports and reduce working capital blockage.
