The PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) scheme is a flagship initiative by the Ministry of Textiles to establish world-class industrial infrastructure. The scheme aims to integrate the entire textile value chain—from spinning and weaving to processing and garmenting—at a single location. This 'Plug and Play' model significantly reduces logistics costs for Indian manufacturers. The Central Government provides a Development Capital Support (DCS) of up to ₹500 crore for each Greenfield PM MITRA park and ₹200 crore for Brownfield sites. Additionally, a Competitiveness Incentive Support (CIS) of up to ₹300 crore per park is available to incentivize the early establishment of manufacturing units. As outlined on the Ministry of Textiles portal, these subsidies are designed to make Indian textiles globally competitive by achieving economies of scale. ## Key points for manufacturers Investors within these parks can leverage shared utilities, including 24/7 power, water treatment, and testing labs. To qualify for CIS, units must meet specific employment and production milestones. By situating factories within these hubs, SMEs can bypass the high costs of land acquisition and environmental clearances, focusing instead on scaling production for the international market.
