The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has issued a fresh advisory regarding financial assistance for organic exporters. To meet the stringent residue analysis and traceability requirements of international markets like the EU and USA, APEDA is providing subsidized support for testing charges and certification costs under the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP). Exporters can now avail reimbursements for costs associated with laboratory testing and compliance audits. This move is designed to bridge the gap for small-scale organic farmers and merchant exporters who face high barrier-to-entry costs in premium global markets. As detailed in the APEDA Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) documents, the focus is on enhancing the quality perception of Indian organic brands. ## Key points for agri-exporters Exporters must register their units on the 'Traconet' portal to be eligible for these subsidies. The assistance covers up to 50% of the cost of certification in many cases, subject to the ceilings defined in the FAS guidelines.
