APEDA Advisory: New Financial Assistance for Cold Chain and Value Addition
APEDA announces enhanced financial assistance for exporters to develop integrated cold chain facilities and value-added infrastructure for agri-exports.

To bolster India’s position in the global agricultural market, APEDA has introduced updated guidelines under its 'Financial Assistance Scheme' (FAS). The focus remains on strengthening the export value chain through the creation of specialized infrastructure. This includes the development of integrated cold chains, packhouses, and pre-cooling facilities that are essential for maintaining the shelf life of perishable products like fruits and vegetables.
## Key points for agri-exporters
According to the APEDA Financial Assistance Scheme documentation, registered exporters can avail of subsidies for the purchase of laboratory testing equipment and for the implementation of international quality management systems. This is particularly relevant for those targeting high-premium markets that require ISO or HACCP certifications.
Exporters must note that the assistance is credit-linked and back-ended. The scheme also provides support for 'Value Addition' activities, encouraging the export of processed products rather than raw commodities. By leveraging these funds, SMEs can set up sorting, grading, and packaging lines that meet global hygiene standards. We advise exporters to keep their APEDA RCMC updated to remain eligible for these infrastructure-linked subsidies and to ensure all claims are submitted through the APEDA portal within the stipulated timeframes.
